On September 29, Tracey Read, BAYADA’s 2015 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Hero of the Year, was honored by the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) as Caregiver of the Year during their 13th Annual Leadership Conference in Washington, DC.

The Caregiver of the Year award was developed by HCAOA in 2011 to recognize a caregiver who demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to the delivery of care to clients and their families. Read was nominated for this honor by her colleagues in the Shelby, NC adult nursing office. 

She was recognized during the awards presentation for showing compassion, empathy, and respect to; acknowledging and meeting the unique physical, emotional, and practical needs of; and improving the quality of life for her clients and their families. 

Read is a true standout for this award, as evidenced when she graciously thanked the association, her clients, and BAYADA colleagues during her acceptance speech. As part of the recognition, she was awarded a $1,000 cash prize. 

"I’m thankful for my clients for bringing me such great joy and my colleagues for their belief in me,” said Read. She has been a caregiver with BAYADA since June 2013. She received her nurse aide certification through Cleveland Community College and hopes to attain her nursing certification in the future.
